A spreader you can rely on

When working in remote locations in multi-purpose terminals, it is essential that your machines and equipment are reliable. We have taken this into account in the design of our spreaders. For example, we use as few electronics and mechanical, rotating components as possible. By doing so, we reduce the risk of downtime and you can rely on the availability of your spreader. By using high quality steel, it is also lightweight. This leaves you with more capacity and the ability to lift heavier containers.

HEAVY-DUTY HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS

Two critical components of our mobile harbour crane spreader (the telescopic system and the flippers) use cylinders. These components move linearly instead of rotating and are therefore less prone to failure. They also require less maintenance and are faster and cheaper to maintain, repair and replace.

24/7 AVAILABILITY THANKS TO DOUBLE MOTOR AND PUMP SYSTEM

When you use your spreader intensively and under tough conditions, there is always a chance that something will break down. To prevent complete downtime, our spreaders have a dual motor and pump system. This clever hydraulic design ensures that if one of the two systems breaks down, the other will keep working. And so will your spreader.

CUSTOMISED MOBILE HARBOUR CRANE SPREADERS

At VDL Container Systems, we tailor the design of your spreader to your requirements. For example, we supply spreaders for 20 and 40 ft containers, but you can also opt for a 45 ft stopper. The modular building blocks allow you to configure the spreader as you wish.

Twinlift

With our twinlift option, you grab two 20 ft ISO containers from the ship at the same time.
   

Double pin suspension

With two pins instead of one, your spreader hangs more stably on your crane. This makes moving containers faster.
   

Security platform

Thanks to this platform with stairs, personnel safely disconnect and attach your spreader to your crane.
   

Transversal adjustment

Is the ship the containers are on hanging crooked? Then it is difficult to take them off. Our 'transversal adjustment' option tilts the spreader, allowing you to work efficiently even at an angle.
   

Height detection

With our height detection, your crane automatically receives a signal when the spreader approaches the container. This reduces the spreader's approach to the container, minimising the risk of damage and accidents.
   

30 degree flipper stop

Especially when combined with our height detection function, positioning your spreader above the container is even easier. The flippers fold over the corners of the container at an angle of 30 degrees. This makes picking it up easier and faster.
   

Twin Twenty detection

Our 'Twin Twenty' container detection checks whether there are one or two containers hanging under the spreader and that the spreader is also in the correct position for the number of containers to be lifted. So you always work safely.
   

Cold weather package

Heating the oil tank in your spreader will keep your oil and spreader at a good temperature. This keeps the spreader fast and powerful, even in temperatures well below zero.
   

Capacity increase or decrease

Do you process containers with a lower weight than your maximum capacity? Then we can also design lighter spreaders for you. Just need a system that can carry more weight? No problem.
   

Automatic lubrication system

The twistlocks you use to pick up and rotate containers need to be lubricated from time to time. Our automatic lubrication system counts how many times they rotate and lubricates them fully automatically after a certain number of rotations. This keeps them working smoothly.
   

(Noise) attenuation

Our damping system dampens heavy shocks and noise. This reduces the impact on the spreader and on people in the surrounding area.
