A spreader you can rely on
Do you work in a smaller terminal? Chances are you don't have equipment that can take over in case of breakdowns, maintenance or repairs to your machines. So it is essential that your machines are reliable. We have taken this into account in the design of our yard crane spreaders. We use as few electronics and mechanical, rotating components as possible. This way, we reduce the risk of downtime and you can rely on the availability of your spreader.
ELECTRIC YARD CRANE SPREADERS
An electric yard crane spreader? That, too, is possible. In fact, many of our customers choose this. Electric yard crane spreaders require less maintenance than hydraulic spreaders, are more energy-efficient, quieter and better for the environment as they do not use oil.
CUSTOMISED YARD CRANE SPREADERS
At VDL Container Systems, we tailor the design of your spreader to your requirements. For example, we supply spreaders for 20 and 40 ft containers, but you can also opt for a 45 ft stopper. The modular building blocks allow you to configure the spreader as you wish.

Hybrid flippers Especially for fully electric yard crane spreaders, we have designed a hybrid flipper. In it, we combine the advantages of a hydraulic system with those of an electric system. That means the flipper is just as powerful to absorb shocks as a hydraulic system, but there is less risk of oil loss due to the limited use of oil. Choose 4 corner flippers or 6 side flippers. |

Rotation and centre of gravity adjustment Can't rotate the crane your spreader is hanging from? Then your spreader has to do it, to load the container onto the truck the right way. This is possible when you choose our rotation function. It may be that the weight in the container is disproportionately distributed. To prevent this from causing danger, you can use the centre of gravity adjustment to move the centre of gravity. |

Damping system All four twistlocks that attach your container to the spreader can individually move up and down 10 centimetres. This dampens shock and noise. |

Camera Need better visibility during container handling? We can mount a camera on your spreader that gives a close-up view of everything in razor-sharp detail. |

Weighing system By adding a weighing system to your yard crane spreader, you know exactly how much the container weighs. |

Twinlift With our twinlift option, you grab two 20 ft ISO containers from the ship at the same time. |

Height detection With our height detection, your crane automatically receives a signal when the spreader approaches the container. This allows you to approach the container more slowly, minimising the risk of damage and accidents. |

Twin Twenty detection Our 'Twin Twenty' container detection checks whether there are one or two containers hanging under the spreader and that the spreader is also in the correct position for the number of containers to be lifted. So you always work safely. |

Capacity increase or decrease Do you handle containers with a lower weight than your maximum capacity? Then we can also design lighter spreaders for you. Just need a system that can carry more weight? No problem. |

Automatic lubrication system The twistlocks you use to pick up and rotate containers need to be lubricated from time to time. Our automatic lubrication system counts how many times they turn and lubricates them fully automatically after a certain number of rotations. This keeps them working smoothly. |
